About Lucy

30 June, 2020

Hi, I am Lucy Jane Hunter-Weston and this blog is all about being a member of Clan Hunter! After many years of deliberation, I finally contacted Madam Pauline and asked whether I could contribute in some way to Clan Hunter. She suggested I write for the Clan blog and it’s a great pleasure to be able to do so. Many of you will have seen posts on Facebook and although it’s not the ideal medium for a blog, it has brought me in contact with Clan Hunter members and I feel as though I have an extended family.

General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston was my great great uncle, a soldier and an active member of the Scottish parliament and it seems only fitting that I give something back to that which he has left behind.

I’ve been married to a Dutchman for 31 years and we live in the Netherlands. We have one son of 26 years old. I’m fluent in the Dutch language and I teach English at a secondary school in my home town. The school runs a bilingual stream for children who are looking for that extra challenge and included in the curriculum are trips to English-speaking countries. So, once a year our second-year students come to Scotland and one of the activities on the itinerary is visiting Hunterston and a tour of the castle. I’m very grateful to Madam Pauline for making this possible, it’s one of the highlights of the trip.

As a blogger, I’m a newcomer and I find that I’m still finding my way around. My aim is not only to inform you but also to bring you the latest news, anecdotes and to keep you abreast of what other Clan members are doing. I look forward to your feedback, and any tips and tricks you would care to share with me!

With best wishes,

Lucy
